Ryobi Torque IV Drill Kit P811
Date Published: 6/23/08
Ryobi's 18-volt variable speed cordless drill/driver, the Torque IV Drill Kit P811, makes switching between driving and drilling modes easier. Simply flip a switch and you're there--no more spinning the clutch ring. The unit is compact and well balanced, so it probably is a favorite of people with small hands. There are several other features that appealed to us.
The 1/2-inch single sleeve chuck makes bit changes quick and easy. A built-in magnetic tray holds screws as well as bits. The two-speed transmission offers a wider range of speeds than previous models. It is variable from 0 to 440 rpm on the low setting and 0 to 1600 rpm on the high setting. The unit has plenty of battery power, too--at least as much as others in its class. Tool weight is ultralight at 3.5 pounds--which lessens the fatigue factor. As a bonus, the P811 comes with a flashlight that operates on the same batteries as the drill, as well as two double-ended screwdriver bits and a carrying case.
