Ryobi P240 cordless drill/driver
Date Published: 7/10/07
Even though Ryobi's P240 18-volt cordless right-angle drill/driver has one of the lowest prices of all the drills we've recently tested, it also comes with plenty of power and packs an amazing amount of versatility. The compact right-angle design makes the P240 a top choice when working in close quarters like corners, behind cabinets or between studs. We also like the versatility of the swiveling battery foot, which can be rotated to any position that's convenient for the task at hand.
Another feature that adds to the P240's versatility is the inclusion of Ryobi's One+ battery system. You can use the same 18-volt charger to charge every 18-volt NiCad Ryobi cordless tool, from drills and saws to nailers and wet/dry vacuums. That way, you only pay for the tool instead of an endless array of chargers and batteries. What's more, the charger can fill a battery in just 1 hour.
The oversize trigger makes the P240 very comfortable to use, since you can engage the trigger from multiple positions. The variable-speed switch trigger lets you control the speed by the amount of pressure you apply to the trigger, from a slow start to a fast finish. And the plug-in lanyard provides a convenient way to store and transport the P240. This drill comes with two bits, but batteries and the charger are sold separately.
When you need to drill in some hard-to-reach places, the Ryobi P240 18-volt cordless right-angle drill/driver is the right tool for the perfect fit.
Pros: Compact right-angle design, swiveling battery foot, One+ battery works with other Ryobi 18-volt tools, 1-hour battery charge time, oversize trigger, on-board bit storage, plug-in lanyard for easy storage
Cons: Battery pack may be hard to remove for users with small hands, battery and charger sold separately
