The Ryobi AIRgrip MultiTask-it EMM0001 is like something you would have first seen in a Star Wars movie. Attach the accessory you need to make the job at hand easier. Then switch on the battery-powered vacuum base and press it against the wall where you need it. The suction generated by the internal vacuum allows the unit to support light materials up to 5 pounds.

Accessories include a laser level to assist with aligning a series of pictures, a job light, a screw and tool tray, and a "helping hand" that can hold one end of a piece of trim while you're fastening the other end. Should you want to mount the unit to a rough or irregular surface that will not allow the vacuum to stick to it, such as a pipe, the MultiTask-it comes with a sub-base and a base strap attachment.

We found the unit helpful for holding the end of a tape measure or chalk-line (there are grooves and slots for each). The light is also handy, especially for under cabinet jobs such as replacing a faucet. The arm attachment is versatile, as well. It rotates 35 degrees and telescopes 1-1/2 inches to suit a variety of situations.

The unit comes with a rough-surface adaptor pad that makes use on textured surfaces possible and a soft carrying case. Although you'll want six batteries to keep everything powered, the kit only comes with four. Also, as with all tools that include laser light beams, use with caution. Do not use them in a room with children or allow children to use the tool as a toy. The laser beam is rated as safe, but this reviewer found even the reflection of the beam to be an eyestrain.
