Rival 6-Quart Versaware Crock Pot Slow Cooker SC7600
Date Published: 8/31/05
The Rival 6-Quart Versaware Crock Pot is unlike any other slow cooker because it comes with a specially designed ETC stoneware crock. ETC, which stands for extreme temperature cookware, is an innovative product that is safe to use on stovetops, in conventional and microwave ovens, and in the refrigerator or freezer. As its name suggests, ETC can withstand extreme shifts in temperature so, unlike conventional stoneware, it can safely go from your freezer directly to your oven or slow cooker base. This means you can prepare your meal ahead, store the ETC crock in the refrigerator, and transfer to the slow cooker when ready to cook. You can also store leftovers and later reheat them right in the same crock. This unit has a shallow (5-inch) base with a temperature control dial featuring setting for low, high, warm, and off. The ETC crock is molded to nest inside the base at the bottom while tapering out for a fuller top. The crock has a 6-quart capacity but for best results you should not overcrowd the cooking bowl. The neat thing about this unit is you can start a recipe on the stovetop (by sauteing onions or browning meat, for instance) and then transfer to the slow cooker base to finish cooking. The ETC cooking bowl retains heat extremely well so all foods are cooked evenly. Other features include sturdy side handles on both the base and the crock, a special heat diffuser for use with electric stovetops, a raised base with non-slip rubber feet to protect countertops, and a removable power cord. The Rival 6-Quart Versaware Crock Pot Slow Cooker SC7600 cleans easily in warm, soapy water or can be put in the dishwasher.
