RIDGID 1450 wet-dry vacuum
Date Published: 6/7/07
Tired of listening to your big wet-dry vac sound like a 767 on take-off? The RIDGID 1450 is quieter than most other shop vacuums, even the small ones. Their patented Scroll Noise Reduction design quiets the airflow so you can actually carry on a conversation in the room where it is working, and that's a feature we can't complain about.
The RIDGID 1450 has an 11-amp motor (6 peak hp) with sufficient suction for cleaning up just about anything wet or dry. The tank has a 14-gallon capacity and, when empty, weighs about 21 pounds. The large handle and four rollers make it maneuverable, though moving it up or down stairs when full can be a challenge with any large wet-dry vac. The cord is 20-feet long.
The 2-1/2-inch-diameter hose is a standard 7-feet long and has a locking mechanism that maintains a good seal at the vacuum's inlet. There are two polypropylene extension wands and three nozzles -- car, wet and utility -- as well as a crevice tool. A removable accessory bag is included for storing nozzles and other tools. Also, you can use this model as a leaf blower to clear debris from your yard, and this is always a great extra feature to have on a wet-dry vacuum.
Another nice feature of this model is that it comes with a well-designed three-layer dust filter cartridge that's treated to minimize fungi and other growths. You also can upgrade to an optional filter by purchasing one that also reduces allergens. The large drain near the bottom of the tank makes dumping the wet, yucky stuff easier.
Overall, the RIDGID 1450 is an outstanding wet-dry vacuum at a fair price.
