Ridgid 14-Inch Band Saw BS1400
Date Published: 6/22/04
The Ridgid Band Saw BS1400 is a 14-inch model that would make a great addition to any pro or serious amateur workshop.
The industrial quality 15-amp, induction-type motor generates up to 3/4 horsepower and is totally enclosed and fan-cooled (TEFC). This results in excellent dust protection for extended motor life and quiet operation.
We found the BS1400 to run quite smoothly, with minimal vibration, thanks to its heavy-duty construction. The table and frame are cast iron. The leg set is sturdy, as well. The BS1400 also boasts generous cutting capacities. Depth of cut at 90 degrees is a full 6 inches, 12 inches with the addition of an optional riser block. The throat width is 13-5/8 inches. The table tilts for bevel cuts in two directions, 0 to 45 degrees to the right and 10 degrees to the left. Soft-touch controls are large and easy to adjust.
Two micro adjustable blade-tracking guides ensure precise cuts. Blade tensioning is easy, as well. Finally, a small stiff cleaning brush keeps the drive wheel free of dust that might affect tracking
The Ridgid Band Saw 1400 is a powerful unit that delivers precision, and it is available at many larger retailers.
