Ridgid 12-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill/Driver R82007

The Ridgid 12-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill/Driver R82007 may be small in size, but this little puppy really packs a punch when it comes to performance. Granted, 12-volt power may not be enough for the heavy-duty stuff, but this tool can easily handle everyday jobs and has plenty of lithium-ion power to tackle stucco and cinderblock and drill holes or set screws without bogging down. And you get a double dose of li-ion power since this tool comes with two battery packs along with a 30-minute charger so you can keep on working until the job is done.
We like the versatility of the 18-position clutch, and especially like that the 3/8-inch single sleeve chuck takes 1/4-inch hex and conventional round bits. We found everything to be easy to move or adjust, and the chuck tightens down easily for a firm hold on bits. Speed tops out at 575 rpm, but we found that to be more than adequate to go head on with everyday drilling jobs from wood to light metal. And the LED work light helps illuminate the task at hand.
Several features contribute to this tool's compact design, starting with an integrated clutch and chuck. The profile of the cartridge-style battery pack is also small and slides into the handle with ease. While this gives a great balance when handling the tool, the drill falls over if you try to stand it on its end. But the chiseled profile does make it easier to drill in corners and tight spots, so it's a trade-off that may pay off in the end. The feel of the drill is solid and hefty, but the grip is a bit thick and not well suited to users with small hands.
Even so, the Ridgid 12-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill/Driver R82007 delivers an amazing range of power, performance and versatility for its size.
