The PUR 2 Stage Faucet Mount-Vertical White FM-3333 is a vertically mounted faucet filtration unit with a two-stage filter that produces cleaner, refreshing tasting water. Stage 1 is actually an added layer, which is designed to trap sediment. Stage 2 is the activated carbon filter, which removes most contaminants. PUR filters are certified by NSF International.

The vertical-mount system attaches to your faucet by screwing onto the nozzle where the aerator is located. This model is designed in white plastic for a clean look that complements any kitchen. The faucet mount design gives you the option of either tap water directly through a built-in aerator (non-filtered) or filtered water, by directing the stream through the filter cartridge and out via a showerhead sprinkler.

The unit itself is cylindrical in shape, measuring approximately 5-1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide. The front end unscrews to allow you to insert the PUR disposable two-stage filter cartridge. After you insert the filter cartridge, you should allow cold water to run through for 5 minutes to flush the cartridge and activate the filter media.

We loved the smooth turning of the filter head as you switch between filtered and unfiltered water. In the filtered position, the showerhead spray provides a steady supply of pure tasting water, free of chlorine and contaminants. The two-stage filter removes 99.99 percent of microbial cysts, which can cause stomach upset, vomiting and cramps. It also reduces lead, asbestos, mercury and a laundry list of lesser-known contaminants. It leaves behind healthful fluoride, along with a clean, fresh taste.

Stage 1 is a sediment wrap that cleans the water, reducing dirt, rust, sand and turbidity. Stage 2 makes the water healthier by removing pollutants.

Each filter lasts from two to three months or up to 100 gallons of water. The PUR Faucet System also has a clever way of alerting you when it's time to replace the filter. After installing a new cartridge, the monitor window appears black. As you use it, a white bar appears and eventually shifts to a red bar. This indicates that the filter is nearing the end of its capacity. The filter will shut itself off when it is completely used up. At that time, simply install a fresh cartridge and the monitor window resets itself. It was, however, somewhat awkward to unscrew the front panel and insert a new filter cartridge once the system was mounted on the faucet.

Installation of the Faucet Mount System was relatively simple and took just a few minutes. A set of adapters is included to fit most faucets. The one exception is faucets filtered with a spray head.
