Procter & Gamble Swiffer Sweeper Vac
Date Published: 7/30/07
Procter & Gamble's Swiffer Sweeper Vac is a real winner in the stick and broom vacuum category. One of the handiest little sticks we've ever seen, it's also one of the most reasonably priced.
Not quite an electric broom and not quite a dust mop, the Swiffer Sweeper Vac replaces them both. Even better, it replaces your broom and dustpan too. This handy unit combines a disposable dust cloth mounted on a stick with a pint-sized portable vacuuming unit. You push the Sweeper Vac along like a Swiffer or dust mop; when you encounter larger debris, simply push the vacuum button to suck up the dirt.
Larger debris is collected in an easy-to-empty dirt cup. Dust adheres to the disposable dust cloth, which requires frequent replacement (although not as frequent as the recommended "every use"). A small filter that likewise may require occasional replacement is also included.
Our users love this little gem. It's rechargeable, so there's no cord with which to mess. It's also lightweight and will almost certainly become the first tool your grab to suck up a dry mess. We suggest that you leave it plugged in so it's always ready to go.
While incredibly handy and a great value, this model is not the most durable product we've ever encountered. Our sample unit gets so much use that we anticipate we'll need to replace it at some point. The good news is that at just $30 or so, we won't feel nearly as bad about buying a new Swiffer Sweeper Vac as we would if we had spent $50-$100 on an electric broom that lasted only a few years.
Pros: Lightweight, quick and easy to use, inexpensive
Cons: Requires purchase of dust cloths, not particularly durable
Warranty
1 year, limited
