Precor S3.45

Date Published: 12/5/07

On the plus side, the Precor S3.45 multi-station home gym combines health club-quality performance with an impressive number of workout options. On the negative side, however, it is very expensive, its leg press attachment is not included as standard and the weight stack tops out at 208 pounds (258 pounds with an optional upgrade).

The S3.45's chest press station features an inclined bench for multiple chest, shoulder and arm exercises. The leg curl and leg extension attachment incorporates a horizontal bench that is fully adjustable to incline or upright positions. This unit also features a separate preacher curl station and multi-purpose pulling station that enables you to perform lat pulldowns, seated rows and back extensions without changing handles. Up to three users can use this home gym simultaneously, which is great for roommates or families who want to work out at the same time. You'll need plenty of space to house the S3.45, though, ideally in a designated fitness room in your house or apartment; it requires 9.75X6.5 feet of floor space, or 9.75X7.67 feet if you choose to add the optional leg press station.

We find that each exercise offers a full range of motion and that the S3.45 operates smoothly and quietly. The three weight stacks are fully enclosed for safety and the entire construction of the S3.45 exudes quality; it wouldn't look out of place in any commercial gym or health club. The standard weight stack of 208 pounds can be replaced with a heavy weight stack of 258 pounds, but many intermediate and advanced users will find this insufficient for certain exercises, such as calf raises and leg presses. Given this unit's high price tag, we would expect the leg press attachment to be included as standard, and we also wish that a heavier weight stack were available. The Precor S3.45 is a high-quality multi-station home gym, but other units offer better value for money.

Pros: High quality, multiple stations can accommodate three users at once
Cons: Very expensive, weight stack limited to 258 pounds even with optional upgrade, leg press attachment not included as standard

Warranty
1 year, labor; 10 years, parts and wear items; lifetime, frame and welds
