Polk Audio Atrium 45p self-powered stereo speakers
Date Published: 8/25/06
The Atrium 45p stereo speakers bring the Polk sound to unexpected places. The Atrium 45p speakers are self-powered, so you can listen to your iPod or portable CD player without an extra amplifier. You can also use the auxiliary output of your receiver to send a pre-amplified signal to another room, and the Atrium 45p's internal 25-watt amplifier will supply the power.
Each Atrium 45p speaker has a 4-1/2-inch long-throw polymer cone driver with a butyl rubber suspension, similar to one used in car subwoofers, which produces an impressive bass response. Each speaker also has a 3/4-inch dome tweeter. The overall frequency response is 60Hz to 20,000Hz. Volume controls are located on the front panel, or you can bypass the amplifier and introduce a speaker-level signal. The Atrium 45p speakers use five-way gold-plated binding posts for the speaker-level inputs, and there are also RCA jacks for the line-level inputs.
The Atrium 45p speakers have a wide dispersion pattern, creating an open, spacious sound. They can be mounted at any angle with the included mounting brackets, and they're available in either black or white. Polk Audio's Atrium 45p stereo speakers can fill a variety of locations with great sound.
