Pioneer TS-CX7 Center-Channel Car Speaker
Date Published: 6/12/06
The Pioneer TS-CX7 car speaker is not a standalone product. Instead, this speaker is designed to serve as the center channel of an in-vehicle surround sound system. Most cars come equipped with four speakers (front left, front right, rear left and rear right), but for true playback of the Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound found on virtually all DVD, five speakers (including the center channel) are needed. The TS-CX7 is placed directly on the dashboard, completing the multispeaker array.
The TS-CX7 uses a single 2-1/4-inch full-range driver. Most center-channel output is movie dialogue, and the frequency response of 140Hz to 30,000Hz is up to the task. The TS-CX7 has a Kevlar fiber composite cone and a butyl rubber surround, both of which help protect against the extreme temperatures and UV exposure common to a car's dashboard. The TS-CX7 is fully sealed, so it can be placed anywhere without having to drill into the dash for mounting. The speaker sensitivity is rated at 80dB, and the recommended maximum power handling is 60 watts (average).
This speaker will work with just about any mobile DVD system, provided there is a center-channel speaker output. The Pioneer TS-CX7 is a great addition if you are seeking true surround sound from your in-vehicle DVD system.
