Anyone who thought four-way speakers were the pinnacle of audio reproduction should prepare to be blown away by Pioneer's TS-A6991R five-way speakers. That's right--five-way automotive speakers.
The TS-A6991R is a 6X9-inch oval coaxial speaker with a total of five driver components. It uses a composite injection-molded polypropylene material with interlaced dual Aramid fibers for the main driver. This gives it a solid sound with an extended bass response that remains tight with plenty of impact, all while standing up to the harsh environment of a car's interior.
The TS-A6991R can handle a very respectable 460 watts of maximum power. A 2-1/4-inch midrange driver provides a very smooth sound. There is a 1-1/2-inch tweeter and two super-tweeters, one measuring 3/4-inch and the other 1/2-inch. The frequency response is an impressive 25Hz to 35,000Hz, with an impedance of 4 ohms. The sensitivity is rated at 93dB. The Pioneer TS-A6991R has very precise imaging for a sound that is most rewarding.
