Pioneer GM-7200M subwoofer amplifier
Date Published: 1/9/08
The Pioneer GM-7200M is an efficient subwoofer amplifier that can really add some bump to your car audio system. This Class D MOSFET amplifier provides a single channel with up to 250 watts at 4 ohms or 360 watts at 2 ohms, with peak levels as high as 800 watts. These are CEA2006-compliant specifications. While most comparable amplifiers have a sensitivity adjustment up to 200mV, the GM-7200M's adjustment range goes from 6.5V to 400mV.
While a continuously variable bass boost would have been preferable, the GM-7200M has a functional boost that is selectable between +6dB and +12dB at 50Hz. To filter out high-frequency content, the integrated variable low-pass filter has a 12dB/octave slope that is adjustable from 40Hz to 240Hz. The overall frequency response of the GM-7200M is 10Hz to 240Hz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB.
This car amplifier has RCA line-input terminals, as well as a speaker-level input. It is nice to see large-gauge power terminals for a safe and secure connection. The GM-7200M is ideal for a system that only uses an external subwoofer amplifier, as its output level will blend nicely with the sound from a midrange head unit. The GM-7200M is a solid performer that will more than adequately power your subwoofer.
