The Pioneer Elite DV-45A is a fabulous and reasonable way to bring high-end performance to your home theater. In addition to DVD-Audio and multichannel SACD, the DV-45A plays regular CDs and MP3 files from CD-R/RW. While Pioneer offers a few players with similar capabilities, the DV-45A has a few less high-end features and performance, while still maintaining very exceptional quality. It offers 2:3 pulldown progressive scan video with a 54MHz/10-bit converter, along with many user-adjustable parameters, such as contrast, sharpness, brightness, and more.

Other features include step and slow-motion playback. In addition to a component output, there is a single S-video output and a composite video output. The audio section of the DV-45A uses three 192kHz/24bit Burr Brown converters, and it also has built-in Dolby Digital and DTS processors. If you prefer, you can output Dolby Digital and DTS signals through either a coaxial or optical digital output to your own external processor.

For SACD and DVD-Audio playback, six channels of discrete analog outputs are available, along with full bass management--a plus in this price range. The Pioneer Elite DV-45A offers price and performance that many higher priced models can't begin to approach.
