Philips PhotoFrame 9FF2CME/37 Digital Picture Frame
Date Published: 10/24/07
With its large screen and very good image quality, the Philips PhotoFrame 9FF2CME/37 digital picture frame immediately grabs your attention. However, at a suggested retail price of $250, the 9FF2CME/37 is an expensive option that might not fit everyone's budget.
The 9FF2CME/37 has very good brightness and contrast and the display's sharpness is slightly above average, but at this price, we'd expect the display to have more resolution. Measuring 9 inches diagonally, the 9FF2CME/37's size makes for an impressive image. Compatibility with six memory card formats adds a measure of versatility, and a 12MB of internal memory is a small but handy extra option.
The 9FF2CME/37 can operate on either its internal rechargeable battery or an included AC adapter. Unfortunately, the rechargeable battery is only good for about 1 hour of display time, which somewhat limits the effectiveness of this feature.
It should be noted that some buyers have reported problems with the firmware included with the 9FF2CME/37, so you'll need to visit the Philips website to ensure you have the latest firmware version. The unit's menu interface is a little quirky, too, so plan to spend some time practicing before you get the hang of it.
Thanks to its large and bright screen, the 9FF2CME/37 is certainly impressive, and if you can find it for less than $200, it would be a great value. If the 9FF2CME/37's menu interface and control options were better, this would be one of the top digital picture frames available. Overall, however, the Philips PhotoFrame 9FF2CME/37 is only worth consideration.
Pros: Very good display quality, large screen with excellent brightness, internal rechargeable battery, internal memory
Cons: Expensive, resolution should be higher considering the size and price, short battery life, internal memory is small
