Philips PhotoFrame 7FF1M4/37 Digital Picture Frame
Date Published: 10/24/07
The PhotoFrame 7FF1M4/37 from Philips is a sharp-looking digital picture frame, offering a nice collection of features. However, the 7FF1M4/37 isn't quite as large as some other options in this price range.
The 7FF1M4/37's display is sharp, offering a high resolution and good but not great brightness levels. You can view the screen from almost any angle, which is an extremely nice feature. Unfortunately, at only 7 inches measured diagonally, the 7FF1M4/37 isn't as large as some other options in this price range.
The 7FF1M4/37 is compatible with five different memory card formats, or you can use the 12MB of internal memory to store images. While the internal memory is a nice feature, the 7FF1M4/37's capacity still lags behind a number of other competing models. Although the 7FF1M4/37 has a USB connection, you cannot view photos directly from your computer. Instead, images must first be transferred to the internal memory or a connected memory card.
The 7FF1M4/37 can operate from an internal rechargeable battery or AC power, but the battery lasts for less than an hour, which is disappointing. The 7FF1M4/37's menu interface is a little tricky to understand at first, requiring some practice to make it run efficiently. The 7FF1M4/37's software automatically resizes photos to fit the frame's display area, which is handy.
For a suggested price of $200, the 7FF1M4/37 probably should offer more than it does. This frame has some very nice features, and its display is great. However, for a unit in this price range, the Philips PhotoFrame 7FF1M4/37 needs more internal memory and a longer-lasting battery.
Pros: Great display quality, automatically resizes photos, internal rechargeable battery, screen is viewable from any angle
Cons: High price for features offered, screen could be larger, small internal memory, battery life is very short
