Philips DVD600VR VCR/DVD recorder
Date Published: 1/9/08
The Philips DVD600VR is part of a new breed of hybrid components that combines a traditional VCR with a DVD recorder and player. This gives the best of both the new and the old video worlds; users can continue to enjoy all their old VHS memories, while at the same time create new ones in the DVD format. Television programs can be recorded directly to VHS and DVD, old VHS content can be quickly transferred to DVD+R/RW, and a camcorder or PC can be connected for the copying of footage to disc.
The DVD600VR lets users insert chapter markers and select index pictures when recording to DVD. As a DVD player, the DVD600VR has progressive scan output for optimal image quality, and it will play back DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and discs containing MP3 files. The unit's coaxial digital audio output will route Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals to a full-featured A/V receiver.
