Pfaff Performance 2056 computerized sewing machine
Date Published: 6/17/08
Aptly named, Pfaff's Performance 2056 is one of the finest sewing machines on the market. It does just about everything except hooped embroidery designs. And to make it even more appealing it is an exceptional value.
The most outstanding feature on this model is the IDT, a dual feed system that impressively feeds fabric from both the top and bottom simultaneously. The result is a perfect seam every time. Fabrics stay where you put them; plaids and other complex fabrics stay put without the addition of a walking foot. Decorative possibilities abound thanks to four alphabets, a twin needle and this model's ability to stitch out patterns in widths up to 9mm. Equipped with a vertical bobbin, this design may be a bit unfamiliar to many seamstresses. But like many commercial machines, this feature performed well and resulted in very few problems with lower tension.
Other positive feedback singles out the electronic knee lift and programmable pressor foot lift as exceptional conveniences. Stitch sequencing allows stitches to be automatically combined or a specific number or stitches to be selected. An automated tie-off program allows both seam beginnings and ends to be secured in a time saving manner. Unlike many high-end models, this machine offers through-the-needle bobbin winding as another step-saving option. Multiple buttonhole options, bartacks, eyelets and a needle threader round out list of top shelf conveniences.
If your goal is to find a sophisticated workhorse that speeds your sewing and gives you plenty of options for fashion, home dec, crafting and quilting, then the Pfaff Performance 2056 is your model.
Pros: Lots of finely engineered options for the money
Cons: Vertical bobbin may be unfamiliar, some adaptation required
