The Panasonic TC-32LX85 LCD HDTV is a 32-inch model is ideal for dens, bedrooms or smaller living rooms where a large display might overpower the room. At less than five inches in depth, this panel is sleek with a very attractive design.

The recent lineup of flat panel LCD displays from Panasonic includes the very attractive LX85 line, which includes the Panasonic TC-32LX85. This 720p line of HDTVs offers a fine looking picture and comes at a price that should look just as good. 

The TC-32LX85 is even GalleryPlayer compatible and includes a side SD memory card slot, so you can transform this set into your own private art gallery for those occasions when you're bored if TV but still want to show off this set. This affordably priced model offers a nondescript, but still attractive case design with a thin bezel. Below the screen is this set's speaker bar, which is nicely hidden while not detracting from the audio quality. The twin 10-watt speakers manage to produce very robust sound, and we found the volume to be more than adequate for a set this size for sports, TV, movie and even games. The simulated surround sound doesn't really match a true home theater system, but for a smaller space the built-in speakers are quite sufficient.

The picture quality was very clear and quite crisp. We found this set to have reasonably deep black levels, with mostly accurate colors. While this 720p set doesn't pack in some of the latest bells and whistles, it does still include Panasonic's sub-pixel controller to help smooth the picture and reduce digital artifacts. The results with HD content were very good, and this set features a native resolution of 1,366x768, scaling 1080i and 1080p source material accordingly. We also liked how the set's digital comb filter tackled the standard definition source material.

The Panasonic TC-32LX85 features a screen that reflects very little light, and thus is good for viewing regardless of the time of the day, and even reasonably excessive ambient light won't wash out the picture. As with other LCD sets in the Panasonic line this 32-inch model officially offers a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees. While on the extreme angles there is some color distortion we found this to be adequate for most viewing needs.

What we found to be very impressive is that this model didn't shortchange when it came to A/V connections. The set includes a total of three HDMI inputs, including one located on the side. While three HDMI inputs at the back panel would have been preferable, given that so many devices - from Blu-ray players to game consoles to cable boxes - use these, we can't complain too much about a side HDMI input.

The set further offers side composite inputs along with the SD card slot, and as an added touch as a headphone jack. At the back of the panel the Panasonic TC-32LX85 features one component video inputs, S-Video and composite inputs, along with digital audio output. Panasonic's X85 series provides a good picture with a few features. For a smaller space, this set should be one to consider.
