Panasonic TC-32LX700 32-inch LCD
Date Published: 4/28/08Panasonic's step up 32-inch TC-32LX700 is a good option for those looking for a smaller size--and when we say smaller size it's still a 32-inch widescreen set--for a den, bedroom or even a living room. This set features a built-in SD card slot, allowing you to view your digital photos, and even run a slide show for those times when you're not watching regular programming.
The TC-32LX700 transforms your living space into your own private art gallery, as it features the Panasonic GalleryPlayer built-in. This allows you to use GalleryPlayer software including famous works of art. Why go to the Louvre or Met when the art can come to you?
The TC-32LX700 boasts a very wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, while the advanced 3D Color Management offers vivid colors with adequate black levels. The sub-pixel controller helps reduce annoying digital artifacts so you can get a crisp, sharp picture. There are multiple aspect settings for both 480i/p standard definition, as well as 1080i/p high definition content. You can adjust the picture for the widescreen display to fit your preferences. This model features a motion picture response speed of 6ms, while the 120Hz technology helps ensure smooth motion during high-speed scene transitions. This makes the 32-inch Panasonic set good for sports, video games, and even movies with fast action.
Where the set could see improvement is with the connectivity options. The TC-32LX700 only features two HDMI inputs, and while that's fairly standard today, many manufacturers are starting to add a third HDMI connection. This would have been acceptable if this step up model only features one component input. On the plus side, we were happy to see three composite A/V inputs including a side input, as well as two S-Video inputs. Thus we think this is a good set if you're looking to use it with DVD players, DVRs, VCRs and camcorders. For all your HD needs, this model does come up a tad short.
We were impressed with this model's built-in speakers, which include two 10-watt speakers as well as two mini-subwoofers. Combined, these can deliver excellent sound for TV, movies and games, and do a reasonably decent job of simulating surround sound. While they still can't compare to a dedicated home theater system, you will still get very good sound over all. This model even includes a built-in headphone jack, which is always a nice feature to have.
The TC-32LX700 features a nice design with a sleek, black appearance. This fairly thin bezel design does look especially nice as a frame for any artwork you choose to display with the GalleyPlayer. And the HD content doesn't look too bad either; this is a good set at a fairly reasonable price for those looking for a smaller display for a living room, den or other smaller room setting. As a step up to the TC-32LX70, this model offers a few extra features worth considering, along with a picture that can handle a bit more fast-action content.
Pros: Good price, light enough to move around
Cons: Only two HDMI inputs and only one component input
