Panasonic TC-32LX60 32-inch LCD HDTV
Date Published: 2/26/08
The Panasonic TC-32LX60 is a 32-inch LCD HDTV that proves to be a good value. This attractive set will not blow you away with its features or performance, but it will produce a sharp high-definition picture at a reasonable price. The compact silver monitor comes with a removable pedestal stand, allowing the TC-32LX60 to be mounted on the wall (an additional bracket is required). Control buttons are lined along the upper edge of the front panel, where they are easy to reach. Speakers are built in below the screen, which reduces the footprint. Without the stand, the TC-32LX60 weighs only 43 pounds and is less than 5 inches deep.
All incoming signals are displayed at the TC-32LX60's native resolution of 1,366X768, and the picture appears clear and detailed with a brightness that will stand up to most light conditions. A 3-D Y/C digital comb filter eliminates dot crawl and rainbow effects. The TC-32LX60 does a good job displaying DVD movies and HDTV, and there are four picture settings for fitting standard content to the wide-format screen.
The internal audio system consistes of a pair of full-range stereo speakers that can be set to simulate surround sound. As with most LCD TVs of this size, the TC-32LX60 has a sleep timer, closed captions and V-chip parental controls, but it unfortunately lacks any picture-in-picture options. While not a universal model, the included remote control offers an intuitive layout of buttons for operating the TV's various functions.
The side of the TC-32LX60 is home to quick-access composite video/S-video inputs and a headphone jack. The rear panel hosts the rest of the connectivity options, which include two additional composite video inputs, one more S-video input, one component video input, one HDMI input and a set of audio outputs. Aside from the HDMI input, this is relatively sparse for a 32-inch LCD TV, but it should be adequate for most users. For an LCD TV with competent high-definition performance and a sensible price, consider the Panasonic TC-32LX60.
Pros: Good price, clear picture, compact monitor can be wall-mounted
Cons: No PIP features, no PC input, relatively basic connection selection
