The Panasonic SL-SV590A portable CD player packs a lot of features into its attractive shell, including a digital FM radio tuner and MP3 playback. It also has exceptional longevity, so you can keep the music playing for a long time before having to replace the batteries.

For starters, the SL-SV590A is compatible with CD-R/RW, including discs loaded with MP3 digital audio files. Panasonic includes a remastering function that restores some of the audio details lost in the MP3 compression process, so your digital audio files sound great on the SL-SV590A. All audio can be enhanced with the player's internal equalizer, which includes an effective bass boost.

CD playback features include the usual random and repeat modes, as well as a 20-track programmable playlist. There is also an anti-skip buffer that spans 45 seconds of CD playback time and 100 seconds of MP3 playback. While the SL-SV590A has an effective digital FM tuner, there is no AM band. This isn't a big deal to us, but if you can't live without your AM stations, you should probably consider another player.

Two AA batteries will keep the music going for up to 75 hours of MP3 playback or 33 hours of CD playback. For all the features offered, the Panasonic SL-SV590A is an amazing value.
