With its 27-inch screen and multiple media viewing options, Panasonic's PV-DF2735 will be a welcome addition to many a family's home entertainment lineup.

The silver cabinet includes a flat picture tube, a four-head VCR, and a DVD player. Stereo speakers flank the screen, and a quick-connect audio/video input and a headphone jack are located within easy reach on the front panel.

The TV utilizes a 2-line digital comb filter to reduce rainbow effects and dot crawl, and the picture is sharp and bright on the flat screen, which minimizes distortion and glare. The DVD player has zoom, still, fast-forward, skip, and slow-motion options. The DVD tray can be locked to keep discs safe from young hands, and the player can handle DVD-Video, DVD-RAM/R, VCD, CD, and CD-R/RW.

The VCR can record in SP or SLP speed, and it has two fast-forward speeds for use in searching for a particular scene. A commercial skip button makes it easy to advance through commercial breaks in 30-second increments. Up to eight programs can be set to record in advance during the month ahead using the simple on-screen programming menu.

The internal stereo speakers produce a total of 6 watts of audio output, which can be configured to simulate surround sound and easily switched to one of five audio presets.

The rear of the cabinet offers an additional audio/video input, one RF input, and digital (optical) and analog audio outputs for use with external speakers or a digital 5.1 decoder. The remote control has a previous channel button for switching between two programs, and it includes everything needed to manage the integrated components.
