Panasonic Mini-Canister MC-3920
Date Published: 4/26/07
Although the Panasonic Mini-Canister MC-3920 doesn't offer a floor/carpet switch, so it isn't powerful enough to remove debris from carpets with any substantial pile, it is great for just about everything else. This handy little compact canister is an excellent cleaning assistant. Use it to vacuum floors, cars, bookshelves, window coverings, furniture and more.
An affordable machine, this mini-canister offers excellent filtration for its size. The five stages of filtration, one of which is the disposable bag, provide plenty of opportunity for the capture of most particles, including many forms of bacteria. The tradeoff, however, is the requirement that you purchase sometimes hard-to-find replacement bags --in this case, the Panasonic bag type C-13. For those with Internet access, purchasing these bags is fairly easy thanks to Pansonic Direct, the company's online shopping service. With this service, you can expect five of these bags to run $7.99 plus.
Compact, lightweight and easy to store, this model will fit in your closet or even in the storage area of most boats and campers. Onboard tools include a dusting brush and crevice tool that fit nicely in a covered and recessed storage area. Additional equipment requiring storage include a set of wands and the attached floor brush. These items can be laid flat or will stand up for storage in a closet.
Additional features include a power switch located on the body, an 11-amp motor and 16 feet of retractable cord. Because of its reliable track record, we recommend Panasonic's MC-3920 for most household uses with the exception of use on high-pile carpeting.
Pros: Useful as a straight suction machine for all purpose cleaning
Cons: Not recommended for use on high-pile carpet
