Panasonic is making big news with its car amplifiers, which includes the CY-PA4003U. This model is compact for a four-channel amplifier, but it still manages to produce a powerful 225 peak watts per channel. This MOSFET amplifier is all you need to power the standard four channels used in most vehicles, and it can be bridged for three- or two-channel operation.

The CY-PA4003U has line- and speaker-level inputs, so any type of receiver can be used to supply the signal. It also sports a line output so you can daisy chain additional amplifiers, if necessary.
