The 34-inch HD-ready CT-34WX15 is a yet another exceptional member of Panasonic's Tau series. The silver cabinet has a flat front, with control buttons and easy-access inputs below the screen and speakers on either side. A gray border surrounds the wide-format screen, which is ideal for use with HDTV or movies.

A motion-adaptive 3-D Y/C digital comb filter eliminates dot crawl and rainbow effects, and digital velocity modulated scan can be engaged to further enhance the picture. The stereo speakers each produce 5 watt of audio output, with the option of automatic volume leveling and simulated surround sound as well as separate controls for treble, bass, and balance.

Convenience features abound on the CT-34WX15, with memory for 16 favorite channels, Game Guard to limit access to video inputs, video input and channel labeling, a clock and sleep timer, and memory for video settings for each input.

The input selection is quite generous, with four audio/video inputs (one on the front panel), three S-video inputs (one front), one RF input, one HDMI input, and two component video inputs. An audio/video output and a fixed/variable audio output complete the connectivity choices. The universal remote control is a silver model that has a handy design, with a disc controller for moving around in on-screen menus and illuminated buttons to make the remote easier to manage in the dark.

The picture looks very crisp and lifelike on the Panasonic CT-34WX15, which utilizes video noise reduction, progressive scan doubling, and horizontal and vertical edge correction to create a satisfyingly sharp picture.
