Panasonic CQ-VD6503U mobile multimedia system
Date Published: 1/8/08
The Panasonic CQ-VD6503U car audio/video system defines mobile multimedia. The entire facade of this double-DIN system is occupied by a 6-1/2-inch color TFT LCD touchscreen, so there are no motorized panels to interfere with air vents or gearshifts. The wide-format display is clearly visible in all lighting situations.
The CQ-VD6503U has everything you need to enjoy DVD entertainment on the road, including built-in processing for Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 sound. This eliminates the necessity for an external processor, which will save you the headache of extra wiring.
In addition to DVD, VCD, and audio CD, the CQ-VD6503U is compatible with MP3 and WMA files burned to CD-R/RW. An anti-skip buffer keeps the audio and video playing even on rough roads. This car video system is both XM and Sirius satellite radio-ready (external tuner, antenna, and subscription required), and it has an auxiliary input for the connection of a digital audio player. With the optional Panasonic Hands Free Kit (CY-BT100U), the CQ-VD6503U will even support Bluetooth. Of course, a digital AM/FM tuner is included.
The CQ-VD6503U has built-in amplification of 50 watts (peak) into four channels, but you'll want use the 2-volt pre-amp outputs to add an amplifier that will let you enjoy true discrete 5.1 surround sound. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20,000Hz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB. There are full crossover, balance, and equalization controls. A wireless remote control is also part of the package.
It should be noted that some states have banned the use of mobile audio/video players with screens visible from the driver's seat, which would include the CQ-VD6503U. However, if this doesn't apply to the state you call home, Panasonic's CQ-VD6503U makes a good choice for a car video system.Warranty
