Nokia 6126 Mobile Phone
Date Published: 2/25/08The Nokia 6126 is a stylish and inexpensive phone with very solid performance. The first thing consumers will notice about the Nokia 6126 Mobile Phone is its sleek profile, but the next thing would definitely be its external LCD. Measuring 1-1/2 inches diagonally and capable of supporting up to 262K colors, the screen is impressive. Photo ID pictures are crisp and brightly displayed, while access is also given to the usual information: time, battery life, and signal strength. One more unique feature is that you can record a video to use for caller identification.
Directly above the external LCD is the lens for the 1.3-megapixel camera. Snapshots have fairly good clarity and color resolution, and the camera has 8x zoom, a self-timer, and a feature for shooting three photos at a time. The latter is great for trying to get that perfect photo of you and your friends, the one where no one is blinking. Unfortunately, there is no flash.
Given the excellent external screen, it is surprising how impressive the act of opening the phone is. The internal LCD is stupendous--able to support 16 million colors, this is one of the most beautiful screens on a clamshell phone. With such stellar LCDs, it's no surprise that the 6126 is packed with quite a few other multimedia features. Onboard is a music player, and though the interface is rather simplistic, sound quality is acceptable (especially if you're using a Bluetooth stereo headset).
The keyboard for the 6126 is definitely styled for simplicity. As with the rest of the phone, the colors are black and silver, and buttons are kept minimal with just a dial pad, four soft keys, and the multidirectional toggle. The buttons are not raised, so dialing by feel can be a little tricky until you master the phone, but the design is so elegant that this flaw will eventually be overlooked. The toggle, as well as two of the soft keys, can be set to provide shortcuts to features.
Call quality is quite good on both sides of a conversation, and the battery provides about four hours of talk time and up to ten days of standby before recharging is required--but if you're using Bluetooth, performance is considerably less. Other features include: a 1000-contact phonebook, distinctive ring tones, vibrating ringer, voice memo recording, voice-activated dialing, and XHTML browser. Overall, this is a stylish and surprisingly inexpensive phone with exceptional LCDs.
Pros: Great external LCD and superb internal LCD, thin profile, simple and stylish design, inexpensive
Cons: Bluetooth drains the battery considerably
