Nokia 3220 GMS Mobile Telephone
Date Published: 6/29/06
Though marketed for adolescents, the Nokia 3220 GMS is a candy-bar phone that delivers reliable performance with a large assortment of features.
The first thing one notices is the rubber bumpers around this phone. Not only do they protect against shocks, but they illuminate when calls arrive. So, in order to identify callers, you can take photos with the built-in camera for the Picture ID, or you can assign different numbers with special light patterns that are displayed on the phone's perimeter.
Another unique feature are the Xpress-on Fun Shells. These optional phone covers allow you to "message wave" and play games where tilting your phone controls movement. If you want to customize your phone for a lesser cost, you can buy or make your own cutouts that slide inside the back cover.
As for battery life, it's respectable despite all of the blinking lights--about 3.5 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby. Other features include: speakerphone, T9 text entry, memo recorder (the files for which can also be used as your ringer), video clip recording (and messaging), vibrating ring, 500-entry phonebook, picture editor, high-speed Internet access, pre-loaded Java games and voice-activated dialing.
Flashy and eye-catching, the Nokia 3220 is a great choice for the average teenager.
