Nikon Travelite V 9X25 Binoculars 7471

Date Published: 3/7/06

The Nikon Travelite V 9X25 is a solid little pair of binoculars, at an affordable price. Porro-prism construction keeps cost down, while adding some bulk to a class of binoculars that is often too small to hold comfortably. The extra size created by offset objectives and eyepieces translates nicely into an ergonomic design that fits securely into the hand. This ergonomic design coupled with lightweight polycarbonate construction means reduced fatigue during extended viewing sessions. However, the Travelite V 9X25 is not without fault. Like most compact binoculars, it lacks the objective size for dim-light viewing and has a narrow field of view. And, due to its relatively high 9X magnification, it is difficult to hold steady for clear images at longer viewing distances. Thus the less powerful 8X Travelite V 7470 might be better for those with less than steady hands. The Travelite V 9X25 is at its best in a fair weather viewing environment, such as most sporting events, theatre, traveling, nature walks. But because it lacks waterproofing, it is a poor choice for boating or camping. Ergonomic design, low cost (replaceable), light weight, and sturdy construction, also make these binoculars a good choice if the binoculars will be shared with a child. Diopter adjustment and roll down rubber eyecups accommodate the eyeglass wearer nicely.
