It can be set to activate automatically when a baby begins to make noise, or it can be operated manually. Baby will hear an authentic recording of womb sounds, which are familiar and comforting. Our testers like the voice activation mode, particularly because it is not overly sensitive; it activates when it hears a baby's cries, but does not seem to pick up the noise of daily life, such as pots and pans or a ringing telephone. When activated automatically, the colored lights and womb sounds will continue for ten minutes before shutting off. At times, our testers would have liked a longer activation period. However, it is a small drawback, considering the night light's overall value.
