The MSR Wind 4 is a large, all-season tent that sleeps four people with greater interior volume, and peak height, than many other quad tents.

The Wind 4 provides this space in a structure that is rugged and suited for harsh conditions, however. The Wind is based on four poles; one ridge pole that makes the tent free-standing is otherwise optional and can be omitted for weight savings. The canopy is attached using external pole clips; there are stake out points in the front and rear, as well as guyouts, for added stability in windy conditions. The body and rainfly are integrated with a type of truss system to further increase rigidity.

The tent offers two doors and two vestibules for easy access. The doors are designed so that water will not drip into the tent when the doors are opened. A peak vent has a support to open the vent, or it can be closed. Other features include taped seams, reflective guy cords and reinforced stress points. The package includes stuff sacks, stakes, and guyline.
