The Mr. Coffee Pod/Pump Espresso/Cappuccino Maker ECMP40 is similar in design to the ECMP33 with black and silver styling and a 9-inch wide (11.5-inch tall) rounded pump body. This model comes with a removable 28-ounce water reservoir, steam nozzle with frothing attachment, filter holder assembly, pod adapter, removable drip tray, and measuring scoop/tamper.

The biggest difference is the ECMP40's ability to handle prepacked E.S.E pods. Five sample pods are included with the machine. The ECMP40 utilizes a powerful 13-BAR pump to force the heated water through the grounds (or pod) at a fast rate, extracting full coffee flavor in the process. The buttons on this machine are simple. There is an on/off switch, a start/stop brew switch, and a start/stop steam switch. A separate side dial controls the actual flow of steam through the frothing wand. Power and ready lights let you know when the unit is preheated and ready to go.

Because of its simplicity and relatively low price tag, this machine is a good choice for first-time espresso machine owners. The instructions are thorough and virtually foolproof. Once you brew your espresso, you can experiment with different variations to make an assortment of coffee drinks, including cappuccino, latte, mocha, and more. The top of the unit also has a warming tray to preheat your espresso cups.
