Mitsubishi WD-62627 62-inch DLP HDTV
Date Published: 10/26/07
Mitsubishi's WD-62627 DLP HDTV is housed in a black-framed cabinet that is about as compact as a 62-inch television can be. The speakers are located below the screen to reduce the footprint. At 133 pounds, the WD-62627 is no lightweight, but it is less than 21 inches deep, so it can fit into some relatively tight spaces.
The picture is sharp and lively, with high-definition 1,080i signals up-converted to 1,080p for an even richer image. Twin analog tuners, a digital tuner, and a CableCARD slot (CableCARDs are available from local cable providers) ensure that any type of content can be easily viewed without the need for additional components such as an HD receiver or cable box. Video noise is kept to a minimum, and colors are presented in all their depth and variety.
The wide-format screen is ideal for watching HD or DVD content. PIP options include split-screen and multiwindow modes, and users can switch back and forth between two programs, relocate the PIP window, and freeze the picture on the full screen or in a PIP window.
The two-way stereo speakers deliver a total of 20 watts of audio output, which can be set to simulate surround sound. Volume can be kept within a steady range, eliminating jarring bursts of sound from commercials.
The WD-62627 comes equipped with TV Guide On-Screen, an 8-day interactive program guide. It also has memory card slots that can accommodate eight different card formats for viewing JPEG from digital cameras.
Other convenience features include memory for audio/video settings for each input, bright and natural light modes for each source, and on-screen control over associated components through Mitsubishi's NetCommand system.
An ample selection of inputs and outputs are present, including two RF inputs, three audio/video/S-video inputs (one on the front panel), three component video inputs, two HDMI connections with DVI stereo (one of which is a VGA-XGA input), two FireWire inputs, one coaxial digital audio output, one fixed stereo audio output, and two G-Link IR emitters to use with the NetCommand system.
Not surprisingly, an illuminated universal remote control comes with this TV to handle the many components that will no doubt be present alongside the WD-62627.
The Mitsubishi WD-62627 62-inch is an HDTV that utilizes DLP technology to deliver a 1,080p picture that is exceptionally bright, detailed, and clear.
