Mitsubishi WD-62527 62-inch HDTV

Date Published: 10/26/07

With a stylish silver cabinet and rich, sharp picture, Mitsubishi's 62-inch WD-62527 is quite the appealing widescreen HDTV.

The wide-format screen displays 480i and 480p signals at 720p, and internal ATSC and NTSC tuners offer full high-definition viewing without the need for a separate HD receiver. Digital and HD cable can be displayed with the addition of a CableCARD.

Twin tuners enable a pair of programs to be watched in split-screen format or in a smaller PIP window, and the full screen can be frozen at the touch of a button. Color temperature and audio/video settings are customizable for each input source, including settings for bright or low-light conditions. The stereo system produces a total of 20 watts of audio, and automatic sound leveling keeps the volume constant when switching channels or going to commercials.

Other convenience features include an on-screen list of available channels, access to the TV Guide On-Screen program guide, six picture formats for standard 4:3 content, and two picture formats for widescreen content.

The WD-62527 has a broad range of connectivity options for use with just about any component, including two component video inputs, three composite video inputs (one on the front panel), three S-video inputs (one front), two HDMI interfaces, two IEEE 1394 (FireWire) connections, two RF inputs, a composite video output, and two G-Link IR emitters to set up on-screen control over components. The remote control is a multibrand model, with illuminated buttons to make it easier to manage in a darkened room.

With its rear-projection LCD engine, the cabinet is less than 20 inches deep, and the base-situated stereo speakers further the space-saving design. This makes the Mitsubishi WD-62527 a lean, big, nice-looking set.
