Mitsubishi's WD-52527 is a 52-inch rear-projection LCD HDTV that is packed to the gills with features.

A black frame surrounds the wide-format screen, with silver trim fashionably offsetting the picture. Speakers and controls are tucked into the dark gray base to keep the footprint small.

Images display at a resolution of 1,280X720, with all content converted to 720p. The internal ATSC tuner delivers high-definition programming without the need for an external receiver, while the CableCARD slot on the rear makes it possible to access digital cable content without a cable box. Six colors can be adjusted separately to fine-tune the color palette, and there are two adjustable picture presets for each input. Another handy feature on the WD-52527 is TV Guide On-Screen, an interactive program guide that makes available listings of 8 days of upcoming programs. Channels can be reviewed in an on-screen list when considering what to watch.

The front panel offers audio/video and S-video inputs, while the rear panel has two RF inputs, two audio/video/S-video inputs, two component video inputs, two HDMI inputs with DVI audio, two FireWire (IEEE 1394) connectors, a fixed stereo audio output and a coaxial digital audio output. Two NetCommand connectors are provided for creating a home theater network with the TV at its center. The universal remote control is very easy to manage, with several illuminated keys for use at night.
