Mitsubishi PD-4265 42-inch plasma TV

Date Published: 10/26/07

The Mitsubishi PD-4265 is an HD-ready plasma TV that offers fine performance in a compact design. The wide-format display is framed in black, with a narrow speaker panel built in below the screen and a stand that can be raised, lowered, or even removed to allow the monitor to be wall mounted. The PD-4265 requires a separate HD receiver to display high-definition content in its full glory.

The PD-4265's native resolution is 1,024X768, and every signal type is delivered with sharp definition and high levels of detail. The 12-bit processing allows the display of up to 64 billion colors. A motion-adaptive 3-D Y/C digital comb filter eliminates rainbow effects and dot crawl for a clearer picture, and film content is adjusted using 3:2 pulldown conversion to reduce uneven movement. Red, blue, and green can be adjusted independently, and there is a choice of five color temperature settings. Screen aging and image burn-in are avoided through subtle action that occurs automatically behind the scenes.

The stereo speakers are rated at 9 watts of output per channel, producing a lively audio output to accompany the excellent picture. The picture can be formatted seven ways to accommodate the various picture types on the wide screen. On-screen menus are quite international in scope, as they can be set to display in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, or Japanese.

The PD-4265's inputs and outputs are located along the lower edge of the rear panel, so the jacks can be utilized even when the monitor is mounted on a wall. The PD-4265 has the unusual distinction of featuring two PC inputs, a D-sub 15 and a 5-BNC, both with stereo audio. It also has an audio/video/S-video input and two component video inputs, along with an HDMI digital interface that can be used with 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1,080i sources. All of the buttons on the universal remote control illuminate, which makes it much easier to use in the dark.
