The Mitsubishi LT-3780 is a 37-inch LCD HDTV that places tuners, inputs, and outputs in a separate media center to ensure that the monitor remains an elegant centerpiece for a high-end home theater. The black monitor is compact, with stereo speakers built in below the wide-format screen. The included pedestal stand can be removed if you want to attach the LT-3780 to the wall with a separately available bracket.

Mitsubishi presents high-definition images in rich 1,080p format on this LCD TV, with plenty of brightness and rich colors. The LT-3780's native resolution is 1,920X1,080, with a contrast ratio of 800:1. A six-segment color wheel allows you to fine-tune the color settings, and the audio/video settings can be memorized for each input, so you won't have to manually switch settings each time you change sources. Six screen formats are available for viewing 4:3 sources, while 16:9 sources can be formatted in two ways.

Among the features that distinguish the LT-3780 are access to the TV Guide On Screen program guide, twin-tuner PIP and POP functions, and an on-screen channel list for selecting what to watch. The audio system has twin stereo speakers, but it produces only 10 watts of audio output, which is at the low end for an LCD TV of this size. Volume can be automatically kept at a steady level regardless of the audio source, and you can simulate surround sound using only the internal speakers.

The LT-3780's media center is a simple black box holding all of the input and output jacks. These include two RF inputs, two audio/video inputs, two S-video inputs, two component video inputs, two HDMI connections with DVI stereo audio, two IEEE 1394 connections, and a multiformat memory card reader, as well as a coaxial digital audio output, a stereo audio output, an independent record audio/video output, and two G-Link IR emitters. A CableCARD slot and internal NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners allow the LT-3780 to function without a cable box or HD receiver. A 15-foot cable is provided to link the media center to the LCD monitor. The universal remote control illuminates fully, so you will always find the correct buttons in the dark.
