Mitsubishi LT-3280 32-inch LCD HDTV

Date Published: 10/26/07

Mitsubishi's top-performing LT-3280 is a 32-inch LCD HDTV with a crystal-clear picture, a host of convenience features, and excellent connectivity. The wide-format screen is framed in glossy black, and a pedestal stand (removable for wall mounting) makes swiveling the screen a simple task. Internal speakers are built in below the screen. A separate media center holds the selection of inputs and outputs, and it connects to the monitor with a single 15-foot HDMI cable.

The LT-3280 presents images at a resolution of 1,366X768p, with a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Image enhancement functions include video noise reduction and the up-conversion of analog and other lower-quality signals. The picture is very bright, with a steady level of illumination on all parts of the screen, and a six-color adjustment menu is available for fine-tuning the image. Widescreen content can be viewed in two picture formats, while standard programs have a choice of six picture formats for fitting the picture to the wide screen.

The audio system includes two woofers and a tweeter, producing a total of 10 watts of audio output. If you don't like having commercial breaks at a higher volume, you can switch on the volume leveler, which automatically adjusts the sound to a steady level. The LT-3280 is equipped with twin analog tuners as well as the HDTV tuner, enabling a host of picture-in-picture features such as split-screen, inset window, and multiple preview windows. Other appealing features include an on-screen list of available channels, memory for the audio/video and color settings for each input, and access to TV Guide On-Screen, an 8-day interactive program guide.

The compact media center looks much like a DVD player or cable box. It offers two RF inputs, two audio/video/S-video inputs, two component video inputs, two HDMI inputs with DVI stereo audio, two IEEE 1394 inputs, a digital audio output, a fixed stereo audio output, two NetCommand G-Link IR emitter jacks, and an independent record audio/video output. In addition, the LT-3280 has five memory card slots to accommodate a wide range of digital photo storage formats, as well as a CableCARD slot that can potentially eliminate a cable box. The LT-3280's multibrand remote control is fully illuminated to make use in the dark as easy as possible.
