Incredibly well designed, the S558 has one of the best sealed systems and near zero emission. Allergy sufferers will especially appreciate the state-of-the-art HEPA filtration system and almost totally sealed fabric bag.

Unlike some of the less expensive Miele models, this one offers a deluxe powerhead nozzle that can tackle even the deepest pile wall-to-wall. Five height adjustments make it possible to vary the height for virtually any carpet you may have. Red Velvet has easy access to six variable speeds thanks to a well-placed speed control right on the handle. Use these variable speeds to prevent sucking up area rugs, curtains, or other lightweight fabrics as you clean. Simple to use, the electrified direct connect system on this model has no external wires. As a result it's very easy to switch from the powerhead to tools for above the floor cleaning like dusting or upholstery cleaning.

The extra wide head features the widest brush roll of all the Miele models, which saves time as you cover more vacuuming ground in a shorter period of time. Although the darling of many reviewers, this model has one major disadvantage and that is its steep price. To a lesser degree, its fairly small 4.5-quart dust capacity is challenging to those who are frustrated by frequent emptying.
