Miele 36-Inch Electric Cooktop KM451BK
Date Published: 6/7/06
Like all of Miele's European-style electric cooktops, the KM451BK features two variable cook zones. Variable cook zones allow the user to match the size of the heated element to the size of the pan. When the heat better matches pan size, heat loss is minimized, pan handles are less likely to get hot, and elements tend to heat more quickly and evenly.
Equipped with five elements, this unit offers a choice of seven different zones. The front zone adjusts to 7 inches and is ideal for smaller pans. The rear zone adjusts up to 10-1/4 inches and makes a good choice for large pots and odd-shaped pots such as roasters.
Topped with black glass in a thin stainless frame, this 36-inch top has sleek, concealed infrared controls. Each element is ringed in white and offers the fast-heating, ribbon-type design common to luxury electric cooktops. Engineered with safety in mind, each element has a residual heat indicator light to remind you not to place anything on the top until the unit has cooled off.
A perfect companion to an undercounter oven, the Miele KM451BK offers lots of cooking space even in tight quarters.
Pro: has variable zones, concealed controls and work well with built-in or undercounter ovens
Con: expensive, doesn't offer the control of induction or gas
