A new and immediately popular model, the Advanta is the current entry into the highly regarded line of excellent Miele dishwashers known for longevity. Even more exciting is the new technology that will allow you to update the G2170SCSF dishwasher with new features as they are released by Miele. Easily managed by a service technician, the dishwasher is updated by connecting it to a laptop computer. The laptop can change the parameters of power usage, adjust water consumption or change settings to accommodate new rinse aids and detergents as they enter the market. The future possibilities are endless. We just need to wait and see what interesting new features are on the horizon.

The most unique and recognizable feature of this and all Miele dishwashers is the signature cutlery tray. All silverware lies in one of two trays. Keep one in your kitchen drawer filled with clean silver and the other in the dishwasher for filling with silver as it gets dirty. If you wish, you never need to touch the silverware until you set the table. Just keep switching the trays into the third slim rack that is at the very top of the unit. As an option, you can save some money by selecting a traditional cutlery basket.

We found the load pattern of this dishwasher to be quite user friendly. The lower basket is deep enough for a dozen or so place settings or a variety of preparation dishes. The upper basket can be moved down for tall stemware or up to create space in the bottom for tall pots or large mixing bowls.

Miele offers five insulation packages for varying degrees of quietness. This particular model is rated Q1. Q1 is the least quiet of all the Miele units. It's considerably quieter than many less expensive dishwashers, but if extreme quiet is your desire you may wish to move up in the line.

We found the cycles on the G2170SCSF to be fairly typical of what we've seen in dishwashers over the years, with the exception of the quick cycle. The quick cycle is a great addition that quickly cleans a load of glassware or appetizer plates. This feature can really speed along the cleanup of a dinner party.

As with most super-efficient European models, the Miele Advanta G2170SCSF has a filter that must be cleaned out once or twice a month. Failure to do so can affect operation, so you'll want to come up with a system to help you remember to perform this simple maintenance.
