The ETX-90AT is Meade's entry-level scope in its Maksutov-Cassegrain ETX line. As an economically priced all-round performer, the ETX-90AT is an excellent choice for the beginning star gazer. It performs well in viewing the moon, planets, or distant star clusters, and is also capable of terrestrial and galaxy/nebula gazing. The moon and terrestrial objects may be photographed (camera adapter optional) when the ETX-90AT is equipped with a camera. Its lightweight and compact Maksutov-Cassegrain design also makes it a consideration for the more advanced gazer looking for a low-priced portable scope. It has built-in motors, and the AutoStar computer controller with GoTo technology. Just enter the current time and where you are located on Earth into the AutoStar handset, point the scope north, and sit back as GoTo automatically takes you on a tour of the attractions hanging the night's sky. The GoTo motors are powered for up to 20 hours by eight AA batteries (not included). Alternatively they can also be powered by an AC/DC adapter. The ETX-90AT also features diffraction-limited optics for crispness in contrast, brightness and image resolution from the craters of the moon to the festoons of Jupiter. Other features include an 8x25mm straight through style finder scope, a 26mm eyepiece, and a dual fork arm altazimuth mount. The included steel tripod is sturdy and light weight for easy portability.
