The Marmot Arete +40 down sleeping bag is specially targeted at two needs: ultra light weight and small packing size. Down sleeping bags provide a good warmth-to-weight ratio and also pack compactly. The Arete mummy down sleeping bag uses these advantages to provide a very light bag for modestly cold conditions. It uses 800-fill-power goose down to provide comfort to +40 degrees Fahrenheit, but it weighs only 1 pound, 3 ounces.
The nylon shell material is water repellent, windproof and will not leak down fill. Side seams prevent bottom cold spots and allow good loft. Sewn-through baffles allow lighter weight construction. The Arete down sleeping bag also has a down-filled draft tube along the full-length locking zipper; both left and right zipper sides are available. A six-baffle hood can be cinched close for maximum warmth. The footbox is designed with double layers for added loft advantages.
This down sleeping bag comes with a stuff sack and storage bag. It is red in color. The Arete down sleeping bag provides light weight and small stuff size. It is not a cold-weather bag, but is perfect for warm-weather nights. It is slightly heavier than some other ultra light bags, but this is because it provides a full-length zipper -- a feature that is particularly useful in a warm-weather bag when you may want to open the bag completely.
