Marin Kentfield Bicycle
Date Published: 5/20/08
As a no frills road/touring bike, the Marin Kentfield is ideal for a daily commute, a regular workout regime, or just for fun, recreational cycling. The frame is constructed of lightweight aluminum, helping keep the bike's weight down to a trim 27.5 pounds. This means the Kentfield is light enough to tackle uphill rides or for the average rider to load on and off a vehicle rack or in and out of a train carriage during the morning commute. The Kentfield is available in a choice of sizes from 13.5 to 20.5 inches, as well as two women specific step through designs. The wide rims and 700c x 35 tires deliver a smooth, cushioned ride, although the spring loaded seat post disappoints, doing little to increase the seat's overall comfort. That's a minor complaint, though. This road bike's components, including Shimano Altus E2 FIRE Plus shifters and responsive, powerful brakes, make the Marin Kentfield a convenient and efficient urban bicycle.
Pros: Affordable; 700c x 35 tires; light weight; powerful brakes.
Cons: Ineffective spring loaded seat post; basic features.
Warranty
12 months, parts; 5 years, frame
