Logitech Rumblepad 2 vibration feedback gamepad

Date Published: 5/4/06

The Logitech Rumblepad 2 vibration feedback gamepad combines popular gaming tools and features, such as thumbsticks, programmable buttons, an 8-way D-pad, and vibration feedback, in a comfortable, easy-to-use package.

You can play almost any computer game with just a keyboard and mouse, but if you limit yourself to these controls, you'll miss the best part of the gaming experience.

The Rumblepad 2 supports plug-and-play, so installation is easy. You can connect the Rumblepad 2 and get back to your favorite games without missing a beat. The package includes Logitech's Profiler software, so you can create custom profiles for each of your favorite games. Profiles for many popular games are also available for download from the Logitech website.

The arrangement of controls is similar to a PlayStation 2 gamepad, so PlayStation fans will feel right at home. Logitech made some ergonomic improvements over the basic PS2 design, so the Rumblepad 2 is much more conducive to extended gaming sessions. You don't have to be a PS2 fan to appreciate the Rumblepad 2's sleek design and sturdy construction, however.

The compact design features two analog thumbsticks, four face buttons, four shoulder buttons, and a directional pad. The buttons are labeled with numbers rather than symbols, which may be a little confusing at first for console gamers, but the numbers actually make it easier in the long run to customize the buttons for specific functions.

The controls are comfortably spaced and have a solid feel, and specially textured rubber helps ensure you won't lose your grip at a critical moment because of sweaty palms. The dual vibration feedback motors work independently and are weighted differently, so you won't miss a single bump, thud, or explosion in the sensory experience. You can adjust the feedback level to suit your comfort level or the particular game, as keeping it at 100 percent may be too much for some games or players.

The Logitech Rumblepad 2 vibration feedback gamepad gives users the full gaming experience literally at their fingertips.

Pro: Highly customizable. Sturdy construction. Intuitive arrangement of buttons and controls. Comfortable for long gaming sessions. Includes Logitech Profiler software.
Con: The full force of the vibration feedback can be overkill for some games or situations, although this is really a matter of personal preference. Not currently recognized by Mac OS as a force feedback device.
