LG Electronics LMVM2277

Date Published: 1/16/08

LG Electronics incorporates the most outstanding features of many other microwave ovens in an original and intriguing over-the-range microwave oven of its own: the LMVM2277.

Combining the glide-tray of Maytag/Jenn-Air with Sharp's signature turntable, LG Electronics has created the Glide-N-Spin distribution system. An unusual feat of engineering, this system relies on a rotating turntable located within a gliding tray. Small dishes simply rotate on the turntable, while dishes that are too large to benefit from the turntable glide back and forth on the tray. The movement of the tray increases exposure to the microwave energy field and promotes even cooking.

Glide-N-Spin is not the only feature on this model that impressed us. We also love the spacious 2.2-cubic-foot interior and the unusual, but professional appearance of the blue walls. Another convenience feature we enjoyed is the EasyUp door, which lifts up and stays up and out of the way -- great for when you load large items such as casseroles into the oven. It sure beats getting hit in the arm with the door of a side-to-side opening oven.

Even the ventilation system on this model stands out. With a rating of 470 CFM (cubic feet per minute), it moves more air than is typical of this type of product. This increased air flow just does a better job of removing smoke, grease and cooking odors from the kitchen. Compare the rating of the LMVM2277 with a host of others models that max out at 300 CFM, and you'll see why this is yet another reason that makes this model a Best Buy.

Although this microwave offers some unusual features, the standards we have come to expect have not been omitted. The LG LMVM2277 still has a full 10 power levels, a 7-menu item sensor and three defrost programs.

LG Electronics has done its research on this model. With a combination of solid standards and innovative features that address common complaints, this microwave oven really hits the mark. We give the LMVM2277 a double thumbs up.

Pros: Glide-N-Spin provides even cooking regardless of dish size, innovative door, strong ventilation, bright surface lighting, excellent warranty
Cons: Glide-N-Slide may be more prone to repair than simpler distribution systems

Warranty
1 year, full; 10 years, magnetron
