The Leica Trinovid 10X25 BCA Armored binoculars 40343 are high-end, high powered and ultra compact. Leica is a German optical company renowned for the optical performance and build quality of their products. The award winning 40343s are no exceptions. In addition to award winning optics, these Leicas boast a double hinge design that allows these binoculars to collapse into a package small enough for just about any coat pocket. Rubber armor provides durability and comfort, not always found in the compact class of binoculars. While compact binos are rarely recommended as the only bino in a one-bino stable, these are about as good as an all-round compact binoculars as you will find. With such a small objective lens, the 40343 are not star performers in dim light, but they are superior to other binos of identical theoretical light gathering ability. The 40343s have unique retractable eyecups to accommodate eyeglass users as opposed to the roll down rubber (susceptible to cracking and splitting with age) variety found on most other binos. However, with only 14.6mm eye relief, there is likely to be some vignetting of the image when used with eyeglasses. Compact size, durability, and light weight make these great binoculars for weight conscious consumers with demanding optical needs. At around $575, these Leicas are not cheap. However, the high price can easily be justified by any buyer with an appreciation of fine craftsmanship and excellent optics, not to mention one of the best warranties in the business.
