Le Creuset Cast-Iron Wok

If you are a fan of Chinese cooking, the Le Creuset Cast-Iron Wok will quickly become a favorite tool in your kitchen.
The large 14-1/4-inch round pan tapers down to a flat disk base. The flat base enables the wok to be used with any type of stove or heat source. When set on your stovetop, that disk delivers an even heat throughout the bottom and up the sides of the wok.
The exterior of the pan is covered in a super hard vitreous enamel, which is not only strikingly beautiful but also impervious to everyday nicks, scratches, and chips. The wok is available in a choice of blue, black, red, flame, or kiwi. The large capacity (4-3/4 quarts) lets you prepare family sized meals quickly and efficiently. The wide, deep shape provides ample stirring room and the sloped sides provide several different temperature zones for controlled cooking. The cooking surface is also coated with the same hard enamel in a dark charcoal gray. Before use, you may want to season the pan by coating it with oil and heating the empty wok. Seasoning the surface darkens it and helps prevent sticking.
The unique thing about this wok is its construction: made from heavy cast iron, which is known for its excellent heat distribution. Make no mistake, however, the pan is a bit on the heavy side (weighing in at about 12 pounds), so it is not for those with weak arms. The extra weight makes it all the more sturdy on your stovetop.
There are two extra-wide open side handles for lifting. We also loved the full-view glass lid, which lets you use the wok for steaming, braising, or even boiling. In fact, the wok is so efficient that medium heat is sufficient to bring the pan to proper cooking temperature.
